chapter 5

Chapters 4 through 7 are happening in heaven. Chapter 12 is a parenthetical, a spiritual glance of Israel, The Christ, the Great Red Dragon Satan being cast to earth for his last 7 years before the millennium.  The sealing of the saints on their foreheads, the saints are given garments, and worship God. The description of heaven is here. John is taken into heaven and he gets to see the Lord, sitting on His throne.
Recommend reading Dr. Heiser’s books and watching his online Seminars! His book and online seminars with the title, “The Unseen Realm”, are greatly appreciated in this day and age. For Chapter 12 of Revelation he offers another book with fascinating insight to understanding.

“There is a good deal of evidence (e.g., zodiac mosaics in ancient Jewish synagogues) that faithful, theologically conservative Jews believed that divine activity that would have an impact on earthly events could  be discerned in the skies–activity they were careful to attribute to the true God and no other gods.”

 SCROLL

Rev 5:1 AND I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals.

Him who sat on the throne – {Rev 4:2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and [one] sat on the throne. 3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and [there was] a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald. 4 And round about the throne [were] four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.}

Rev 5:2 Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?”

Rev 5:3 And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it.

Rev 5:4 So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it.

Rev 5:5 But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.” Rev 5:5; 7:5; 22:16; Isa 4;2; 9:7; 11:1,10; Jer 23:5; Eze 37:24-25; Zech 3:8-10; 6:12-15; Rom 15:12;

Isa 4:2; In that day shall the branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth [shall be] excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel.

Isa 9:7; Of the increase of [his] government and peace [there shall be] no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Isa 11:1And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: 10″And in that day there shall be a Root of Jesse, Who shall stand as a banner to the people; For the Gentiles shall seek Him, And His resting place shall be glorious.”

Jer 23:5; Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.

Eze 37:24And David my servant [shall be] king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them. 25And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, [even] they, and their children, and their children’s children for ever: and my servant David [shall be] their prince for ever.

Zech 3:8Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they [are] men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH. 9For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone [shall be] seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day. 10In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall ye call every man his neighbour under the vine and under the fig tree.

Zech 6:12And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name [is] The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD: 13Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both. 14And the crowns shall be to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the temple of the LORD. 15And they [that are] far off shall come and build in the temple of the LORD, and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you. And [this] shall come to pass, if ye will diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God.

Rom 15:12; And again, Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.

LAMB

Rev 5:6 And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. Rev 1:4,12,16,20; 2:1; 3:1; 4:5; 5:6; 15:1,7; Zech 4:2,10,11,14; (Rev 4:6-8; 5:6,8; Isa 6:1-3; Eze 1:5-28; 10:9) (See 1:4,5)

Lamb looked slain, 7 eyes 7 horns are the 7 spirits of God,
(7 lamps of fire, 7 eyes, 7 horns are the 7 spirits of God, verses 4:5 and 5:6)
(4 living creatures)

Zech 4:2And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all [of] gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which [are] upon the top thereof: 10For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel [with] those seven; they [are] the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth. 11Then answered I, and said unto him, What [are] these two olive trees upon the right [side] of the candlestick and upon the left [side] thereof? Then said he, These [are] the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.

(Isa 6:1In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. 2Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. 3And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, [is] the LORD of hosts: the whole earth [is] full of his glory.

Eze 1:5; Also out of the midst thereof [came] the likeness of four living creatures. And this [was] their appearance; they had the likeness of a man.

Eze 10:9; And when I looked, behold the four wheels by the cherubims, one wheel by one cherub, and another wheel by another cherub: and the appearance of the wheels [was] as the colour of a beryl stone.

Rev 5:7 Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne.

Him who sat on the throne

Rev 5:8 Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. Rev 5:8; 8:3,4; (Rev 4:4,10; 5:8; 11:16; 19:4) (Rev 4:6-8; 5:6,8; Isa 6:2,3; Eze 1:5-28; 10:12-14))

Rev 5:9 And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,”

Rev 5:10 “And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.” Rev 1:6; 5:10; 20:6; Ex 19:6; Isa 61:6; 1 Pet 2:5,9-10;

Ex 19:6; “and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel.”

Isa 61:6; but you shall be called the priests of the Lord; they shall speak of you as the ministers of our God; you shall eat the wealth of the nations, and in their glory you shall boast.

1 Pet 2:5; you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 9But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 10Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy

Rev 5:11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands,

Rev 5:12 saying with a loud voice:

 “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain

 To receive power and riches and wisdom,

 And strength and honor and glory and blessing!”

Rev 5:13 And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:

 “Blessing and honor and glory and power

 Be to Him who sits on the throne,

 And to the Lamb, forever and ever!”

Rev 5:14 Then the four living creatures said, “Amen!” And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever. Rev 4:4,10; 5:8,14; 19:4;
