Revelation 6 – Rapture

Chapter 12 is a Parenthetical, a spiritual glance of Israel, The Christ, the Great Red Dragon Satan being cast to earth . The Great Red Dragon Satan trying to kill the Promise, the Secret of God. The spiritual warfare that is going on. I have placed Rev 12:1 through 12:12 to precede Chapter 6.

Scofield, C. I. “Scofield Reference Notes on Daniel 11″. “Scofield Reference Notes (1917 Edition)”. Dan 11:35 the time of the end. Here the prophetic foreview, having traced the history of the two parts of Alexander’s empire which had to do with Palestine and the Jews, viz. Syria and Egypt, to the time of Antiochus Epiphanes, and having described his career, overleaps the centuries to “the time of the end,” when he of whom Antiochus Epiphanes was a type, the “little horn” of Daniel 7:8 the “Beast out of the sea” of Revelation 13:4-10 shall appear (cf) (See Scofield “Daniel7:8“). Prophecy does not concern itself with history as such, but only with history as it affects Israel and the Holy Land. Antiochus Epiphanes was insignificant as compared with historical personages whom the Bible does not mention, but he scourged the covenant people and defiled God’s altar, thus coming into prophetic light. From verse 36 the “little horn” of Daniel 7:8,24-26 fills the scene. His prosperity lasts until “the indignation” (the “time of trouble” of ; Daniel 12:1; Matthew 24:21 is accomplished (Daniel 11:36). This is parallel with ; Revelation 17:10-14; 19:19-21. Daniel 11:37-45 supply details not mentioned in the N.T. The expression “God of his fathers” (Daniel 11:37) has been held to indicate that the “king” is an apostate Jew, but this does not accord with Daniel 9:26 which was fulfilled by the Gentile armies of Rome. The “little horn” is an apostate, but from Christianity, not Judaism (cf) 1 John 2:18,19. (IT OCCURRED TO ME: ‘THE GOD OF HIS FATHERS’ COULD JUST AS WELL MEAN – HIS MUSLIM FATHERS! ALLAH!)Daniel 11:38-45 describe his career. Substituting “the god of forces” (i.e. forces of nature) (RIGHT NOW I WOULD SAY ‘THE GOD OF ATOM BOMB’ OR ‘NUCLEAR BOMB’ PERHAPS GOD OF ‘OIL’) for the true God (Daniel 11:38,39),  he soon presents himself as that god 2 Thessalonians 2:3,4. (HE BELIEVES HE IS GOD) While his career lasts he is an irresistible conqueror (Daniel 11:40-44). He established his palace in Jerusalem, probably at the time of his supreme act of blasphemous impiety; (HE WANTS JERUSALEM) Daniel 9:27; 12:11; Matthew 24:15; 2 Thessalonians 2:4. From this time begins; Revelation 13:5. Scofield “Revelation 19:20“.

Rev 12:1  NOW a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars.  Chuck Smith Revelation 10-12 (C2000 Series) The Blue Letter Bible online. The identity of the woman is found in Genesis 37:9, as we read of the dream of Joseph, how the sun and the moon and the eleven stars bowed down to him and so the same figure here. We have the identity of the woman as the nation ofIsrael, those twelve tribes that came out of Jacob.

A Woman

Rev 12:2  Then being with child, she cried out in labor and in pain to give birth.  Isa 26:17; 66:7;

A Child

Isa 26:17  Like as a woman with child, [that] draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain, [and] crieth out in her pangs; so have we been in thy sight, O LORD.

Isa 66:7  Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child. Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? [or] shall a nation be born at once? for as soon asZiontravailed, she brought forth her children.

Rev 12:3  And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads.  Rev 9:2,11; 11:7; 12:3,7,9,13; 13:1; 17:3,8,16; 19:20; 20:2,3,10;

Great Red Dragon – 7 heads, 10 horns, 7 crowns

Rev 12:4  His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born. Dan 8:10;

1/3 of stars swept away

Dan8:10 It grew great, even to the host of heaven. And some of the host and some of the stars it threw down to the ground and trampled on them.

Scofield, C. I. “Scofield Reference Notes on Hebrews 1″. “Scofield Reference Notes (1917 Edition)”.

Fallen angels. Two classes of these are mentioned: (1) “The angels which kept not their first estate place, but left their own habitation,” are “chained under darkness,” awaiting judgment. 2 Peter 2:4; Jude 1:6; 1 Corinthians 6:3; John 5:22. (See Scofield “Genesis 6:4“) (2) The angels who have Satan Genesis 3:1 as leader. (See Scofield “Revelation 20:10“) . The origin of these is nowhere explicitly revealed. They may be identical with the demons. (See Scofield Matthew 7:22 “For Satan and his angels everlasting fire is prepared. Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10

Gen 6:4 Scofield Commentary Some hold that these “sons of God” were the “angels which kept not their first estate” Jude 1:6. It is asserted that the title is in the O.T. exclusively used of angels. But this is an error Isaiah 43:6. Angels are spoken of in a sexless way. No female angels are mentioned in Scripture, and we are expressly told that marriage is unknown among angels. Matthew 22:30.

The uniform Hebrew and Christian interpretation has been that verse Genesis 6:2 marks the breaking down of the separation between the godly line of Seth and the godless line of Cain, and so the failure of the testimony to Jehovah committed to the line of Seth Genesis 4:26. For apostasy there is no remedy but judgment ; Isaiah 1:2-7,24,25; Hebrews 6:4-8; 10:26-31. Noah, “a preacher of righteousness,” is given 120 years, but he won no convert, and the judgment predicted by his great- grandfather fell ; Jude 1:14,15; Genesis 7:11.

Rev 12:5  She bore a male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her Child was caught up to God and His throne. Rev 2:27; Dan7:14; 1 Cor 2:7-8;

Her Child

C. The child.
1. (5) Jesus’ ministry is described by its earthly beginning and end.
She bore a male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her Child was caught up to God and His throne.
a. A male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: Clearly, this refers to Jesus Christ, the Messiah. He rules the world with a rod of iron (Psalm 2 and Revelation19:15).
b. She bore a male Child refers to Jesus’ birth. Rule all nations with a rod of iron refers to the triumphant return of Jesus. By stating the “bookends” of Jesus’ earthly work, John alludes to all that stands in between.
1. “After a conflict with the Prince of this world, who came and tried Him, but found nothing in Him, the Son of the woman was taken up to heaven and sat on the right hand of God. Words can hardly be plainer than these.” (Alford)
c. This male Child is obviously Jesus. This means that the woman of Revelation 12:1 cannot be the church, because Jesus “gives birth” to the church, not the other way around. The woman must therefore either be Mary orIsrael, the only two “women” who could have “given birth” to Jesus. The rest of Revelation 12 will demonstrate that this woman isIsrael, not Mary.

Dan7:14 And there was given Him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve Him: His dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and His kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
1 Cor 2:7  But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, [even] the hidden [wisdom], which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known [it], they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

Rev 12:6  Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days. Rev 11:2,3; 12:6,14; 13:5; Dan 7:25; 12:7;

1260 Days

Dan7:25 And he shall speak [great] words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
Dan 12:7  And I heard the man clothed in linen, which [was] upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that [it shall be] for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these [things] shall be finished.

Rev 12:7  And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought,  Dan 10:13,21; 12:1; Jude 1:9;

War in Heaven
Michael is one of the Chief Princes
And he Stands up for Israel

Dan10:13 But the prince of thekingdomofPersiawithstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings ofPersia.
Dan 12:1  And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation [even] to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
Jude 1:9  Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

Rev 12:8  but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer.

Dragon not strong enough

Rev 12:9  So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.  Rev 9:2,11; 11:7; 12:3,7,9,13; 13-1; 17:3,8,16; 19:20;20:2,3,10; Job 1:7; Isa 27:1; Luke 10:18;

Great Dragon, Ancient Serpent, Devil, Satan, Deceiver
Cast down to earth

Job 1:7  And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

Isa 27:1  In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that [is] in the sea.

Luke 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

Rev 12:10  Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.”

The dragon is cast down

Rev 12:11  “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” Zech 4:6; Acts10:43; Rom3:25; Eph 1:7;Col 1:14;

Victory by the Blood of The Lamb

Zech 4:6  Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This [is] the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
Acts 10:43  To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
Rom3:25 Whom God hath set forth [to be] a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
Eph 1:7  In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
Col1:14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Rev 12:12  “Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.”

Woe to men, the Devil’s wrath has come and he has a short time

Chapter 6, the opening of the 1st seal of God’s wrath. The devil is cast down to earth, knowing ‘that he has a short time’.

Rev 6:1 NOW I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals; and I heard one of the four living creatures saying with a voice like thunder, “Come and see.”

1st Seal
1st Church Age (Rev 2:1)

Rev 6:2 And I looked, and behold, a white horse. He who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer. Zech 1:8,18-21; 6:1-3;

White horse (war)

Zech 1:8; I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that [were] in the bottom; and behind him [were there] red horses, speckled, and white. 18Then lifted I up mine eyes, and saw, and behold four horns. 19And I said unto the angel that talked with me, What [be] these? And he answered me, These [are] the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.20 And the LORD shewed me four carpenters. 21Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, saying, These [are] the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up [their] horn over the land of Judah to scatter it.
Zech 6:1 And I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came four chariots out from between two mountains; and the mountains [were] mountains of brass. 2In the first chariot [were] red horses; and in the second chariot black horses; 3And in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot grisled and bay horses.

Rev 6:3 When He opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come and see.”

2nd Seal
2nd Church Age (Rev 2:8)

Rev 6:4 Another horse, fiery red, went out. And it was granted to the one who sat on it to take peace from the earth, and that people should kill one another; and there was given to him a great sword. (Rev 6:8)

Fiery red horse
Sword – people killed – Another War

Rev 6:5 When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. (Note: Africa has been in famine for 40 years. Now the U.S., Israel, Syria, Turkey)

3rd Seal
3rd Church Age (Rev 2:12)
Black horse (famine) History tells of the terrible times after the wars.

Rev 6:6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.”

See http://www.raptureready.com/abc/antichrist.html

The Anti-Christ – “Perilous times” also includes “economic disaster.” While the antichrist is boasting about having solutions to the world’s problems, God will release a third horse and rider. John said, “I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine” (Revelation 6:5, 6).
The third rider will bring economic collapse to the world. God will allow him to do this to show the world that the antichrist is not the true Bread of Life, Jesus. Food will be so valuable it will have to be weighed on scales before it is sold. Money will be so worthless that what a man earns in one day will purchase barely enough for one person to survive on. It definitely seems that America, and perhaps the entire world, has forgotten that a good economy is a blessing of God and not a benefit of having the right kind of politician in office. This moral confusion will be disastrous in the days to come.
“Perilous times” also includes starvation and sickness, and two more signs of the last days Jesus talked about are “famine” and “pestilence” (Matthew 24:7). God will release a fourth horse and rider that will fulfill this. John said, “I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth” (Revelation 6:8). God will allow this horse and rider to come on the scene to show the world that the antichrist is not the Great Physician, Jesus. One-fourth of the world’s population will die as war and economic disaster spreads like wildfire triggering hunger and disease on

Rev 6:7 When He opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see.”

4th Seal
4th Church Age (Rev 2:18)

Rev 6:8 So I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth. Rev 1:18; 6:8; 20:13,14; Matt 24:6,7; Lk 21:9; 1 Chr 15:26; (6:8; 8:6; 13:18;? Great trib?) (The 4th seal now, waiting for the rapture.  The 5th church age, and the 6th church age.) There shall be ‘war and rumors of war.’

Rev 6:9 When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. Rev 4:1; Isa 26:20; 27:1; 40:8; Rev 1:2,9; 6:9; 18:4; 20:4;

The 5th seal, Rev 6:9-11.

This Is The Rapture. There are souls under the altar, slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. We join them.

Isa 40:8; The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

Rev 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, “How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” Isa 26:20; 27:1; 40:8; Isa 26:20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. 21For, behold, the Lord cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain. 27:1In that day the Lord with his sore and great and strong sword.

Rev 6:11 Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed. Rev 3:5; 3:18; 4:4; 6:11; 7:9,13,14; 15:6; 19:8,14; Ex 28:2; Lev 16:4; Isa 26:20; 27:1; 40:8; 61:10; Dan 7:9; 1Thess 4:16-17;

White Robes given
The raptured souls are told, ‘rest a little while longer,’

Ex 28:2; And thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother for glory and for beauty.
Lev 16:4; He shall put on the holy linen coat, and he shall have the linen breeches upon his flesh, and shall be girded with a linen girdle, and with the linen mitre shall he be attired: these [are] holy garments; therefore shall he wash his flesh in water, and [so] put them on.
Isa 26:20; Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.
Isa 61:10; I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh [himself] with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth [herself] with her jewels.
Dan 7:9; I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment [was] white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne [was like] the fiery flame, [and] his wheels [as] burning fire.
1 Thess 4:16-17; For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Chapter 6 verses 12 through 17 are descriptions of events that are final for the earth and the heavens. Catastrophic events which happen in the final wrath of God.
